Full Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Naples Federico II and Principal Investigator & Director of the Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Health Care (CABHC) at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. Internationally acclaimed for pioneering “cell-instructive” biomaterials that replicate extracellular matrix functions to guide cellular behavior and tissue development. He also leads cutting-edge research in organ-on-chip and tissue-on-chip technologies, mechanobiology, and 3D biofabrication.

Italy
Full Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Pisa and a senior member of the Research Center “E. Piaggio”. His scientific work spans micro- and nanofabrication, biofabrication, and advanced biomedical engineering technologies, leading to numerous publications and patents. With his research group, he develops dynamic cell-culture platforms, characterizes biomaterials, and creates innovative in vitro and in silico models to study and control cellular behavior.
